Welcome to Scarborough Ippon Judo Club
Traditional Kodakan Judo

SENSEI DAVE AITCH
Dave Hammond started his judo career in 1980 and after a meteoric rise to 2nd kyu stagnated somewhat, partially through injury.
He attained his shodan via the BJC in 2000 and in 2011 became a fourth Dan.
In those intervening years he competed at BJA kata, studied under such luminaries as Akinori Hosaka and Yorikyu Yamamoto, Kodokan 8th Dan, Neil Adams and Ray Stevens. For ten years he was the editor of the BJC’s magazine, Judoka! and he has written two books on Judo: Ippon! the fight for Judo’s Soul and Applying the right amount of force: judo’s contribution to law enforcement.
He is a former professional judo instructor, having worked with police, social services and schools. In 2014, he was Dundee University student coach of the year and in 2015 was self defence instructor at Hull University Scarborough campus.
He established Scarborough Ippon in 2015.

DAVID DALBY-WEBB
David started training in 1999, and achieved his 1st kyu while still a teenager.
David was part of the north east judo squad when he was younger and has successfully competed in national tournaments. His notable achievements on the competitive circuit are 1st place at the Welsh Open and 2nd place at the UK nationals.
David has trained and competed in Greece with our association – Judo For All (JFA). He was promoted to 1st Dan at the 2022 JFA summer school in Worthing.
Judo after all, is about learning. In fact, it is a process to learn how to learn more effectively.
